+ WORKSHOP FORMAT

This full day workshop will focus on screen acting techniques and give the actor a feel for what it's like to work on set with Matt Lipsey. There will be an opportunity to discuss all things screen-acting, including how to prepare for an audition and make the most of the material? How to make the most of the subtext in a scene? Discuss blocking a scene and working with the camera’s choreography. Explore all the above through practical exercises, discussion and acting from scripts.

Your scenes will be recorded with broadcast quality equipment. Upon request, you have the option to receive your footage after the session for no extra cost!

MATT'S BIO

Matt moved into comedy in the mid 1990's with the successful original series The Armstrong & Miller Show, which was hailed for its ‘delightful surrealistic edge'.In 2005, Matt was presented with a BAFTA for his work directing the second series of Little Britain. The 2007 Little Britain Christmas Special, also directed by Matt, won an International Emmy.Matt directed both series of the award-winning Psychoville for BBC2, written by and starring Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton with, among others, Dawn French and Dame Eileen Atkins. He also directed two series of the Sky Atlantic comedy series This is Jinsy.Matt has worked with King Bert on several productions now, including Gangsta Granny, the top rating Christmas special: The Boy in the Dress, Billionaire Boy and Walliams and Friend for the BBC. Matt Directed on Seasons 1 and 2 of Sick Note by James Serafinowicz and Nat Saunders and starring Rupert Grint and Nick Frost. Prior to this, Matt directed So Sammy for Disney, Little Big Men for Channel 4, and Rat Burger.Matt directed the first season of Upstart Crow, written by Ben Elton, transmitted on BBC2 to coincide with the celebrations surrounding the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death. Matt directed on season 1 and 2 of Intelligence for Expectation and Sky, and Idris Elba created comedy-drama Turn Up Charlie for Netflix. In 2021, he won a BAFTA for Inside No 9 which he directed for the BBC. Most recently, Matt directed on season 2 and directed and produced season 3 of hit sports comedy-drama Ted Lasso for Apple.
